Bathurst - It is with great sadness to announce the death of Mrs. Margaret Russell, wife of the late Joseph Russell, of York St., Bathurst and formerly or Salmon Beach, who passed away on Tuesday (January 15, 2008) at her residence at the age of 82, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Drumadochit, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Annie (Stewart) Monroe. She came to Canada as a War Bride in 1947. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by: Five daughters: Frances King (Donnie) of Toronto, ON Catherine Cormier (Charles) of Kitchner, ON Shirley Roy (James) of Bathurst Veronica Pitre and Sandra Russell both of Bathurst Three sons: Peter (Faye) of Bathurst Robert (Annie) and Vincent (Sharon) both of Bathurst. 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by a daughter; Gail Russell in 1986. The body will rest after 7 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (January 19, 2008) at 2:00 p.m. from St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Murray Ave., Bathurst, at a time be announced. Burial will be in the Spruce Grove Union Cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Kidney Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
