Jean-Baptiste passed away on July 3, 2004, peacefully at his home on Nevins Lane, Bathurst, surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of late Edmund Godin and (late) Delphine Vienneau. Jean-Baptiste is survived by his wife Delores (Doucet) Godin. They had five children; one daughter, Yvette (Marcel Foulem) from Saint John, and four sons, Michel (Gaëtane), Jacques (Jacqueline), Camille and Gilles, all from Bathurst area. They were blessed with seven grand children, Stéphane, Lucie-Hélène, Ricky John, Mathieu, Sandy-Lynn, Amélie, and Alexandra. He is also survived by 2 brothers: Livain (Georgette) and Patrick (Yvonne), 3 sisters: Bernice (Roger Thériault), Colette (Jean-Guy Vienneau), and Christine (Gervais Doucet). He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Paul-Émile, Chesley, and Ronald. Well known in Bathurst as one of the best painters around, John approached life with faith and a love of music, and always with the philosophy that tomorrow always brings a new day. A big sports fan, he was a staple at all home games of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. He was a long time 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and UCT. The body is resting at Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, St. Peter Ave., with interment in the parish cemetery.
