Bathurst - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Sargent, husband of the late Patricia Sargent, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the age of 82.

Born in Cowansville, QC, he was the son of the late Homer and Olive (Rychard) Sargent.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Lucy (Wilson) Kenny.

A son Michael Sargent (Susan) of Saint John.

Four grandchildren: Andrew Sargent (Candace) of BC and their children: Tanner and Khloe; Matthew Sargent (Kerrington) of Moncton, Caleb Sargent of BC and Jessica Sargent of Hawaii.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son David and a brother, Richard.

Gary’s career with Bell Canada began in Quebec where he was later transferred to Bathurst and retired with over 40 years of service. Gary was a very kind person & would help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with Lucy and her extended family.

We also want to thank the nurses & staff of The Extra Mural program for the excellent care given to Gary at home for the last 3 months. Also the Palliative care unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the care given to Gary until his death.

There will be no visitations or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
