It is with profound sadness the Chiasson family of Bathurst announce the passing of Jean Claude Chiasson, the youngest of seven brothers, who passed away peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on April 30, 2025 at the age of 59 after a long and courageous battle against cancer.

Born and raised in the family home on Golf Street Jean Claude or JC as he was fondly known as was predeceased by his parents Norman and Eveline Chiasson sisters Rachel and Sandra (Mclauchlan) and best friend Anita Chamberlain. Survived by brothers David (Armella), Maurice, Junior, Donald (Paulette), Micheal, Judd (Paula) and sisters Bernadette (John) and Claudette (Scott).

He leaves behind the love of his life of 22 years of compassionate companionship Caroline Henry and cherished grandson Patrick.

Jean Claude overcame many physical challenges in his early life and grew up to become a hardworking and dependable employee who spent many years working in various janitorial services throughout Bathurst and surrounding area.

Jean Claude was best known for his seasonal lawn cutting and maintenance business which he tended to throughout the city and was most recognizable by his home-built wagon of tools he towed behind his ride on mower as he moved from customer to customer. In the winter he was often seen walking from customer to customer, snow shovel over his shoulder as he went to sidewalks. Jean Claude had a big heart when it came to seniors and was always willing to lend a hand with chores or whatever was needed.

With a great sense of humour and a willingness to strike up a conversation he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Now reunited with mom and dad, the family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. J.P. Arseneault, Dr. Nathalie Cauchon and the nurses of the palliative care ward.

Funeral is under the care of Elhatton’s funeral home in Bathurst, visitations will be held on Sunday May 4th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm followed by a service Monday May 5th at 11 am to be held at the Elhatton’s chapel, internment to follow at the Catholic cemetery on St.Peter Avenue.

Donations in memory of Jean Claude can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice and are greatly appreciated.
