Big River - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Percy Edward Wilbur Sr, who died peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital surrounded by family he cherished and bathed in their love at the age of 83. Born in Bathurst, Percy lived a life of devotion to family and faith.

A draftsman by training, Percy spent a lifetime in the construction industry, overseeing the design and building of everything from residential homes to skyrises, and municipal infrastructure to mining operations. His work took him from his home in Bathurst to Northern Ontario, where he met and married the love of his life, Norma, and back to New Brunswick, where they resided in Bathurst, Woodstock and Saint John before returning to his roots in Bathurst again.

An avid outdoorsman, he passed on to his children and grandchildren a great respect for nature in all its wonders.

A Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Percy will be remembered for his devotion to the church, performing many roles of service.

He leaves behind to mourn his beloved wife of over 64 years, Norma (Antoine). Together, they raised a wonderful family of four: Kim of Saint John, NB, Percy Jr (Catherine) of Saint John, NB, Patrick (Kerstin) of Rocky Mountain House, AB, and Sharon of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by six grandchildren Drew, Claire, Ellen, Aidan, Liam, and Nicholas, and his sisters Mary Alma Smith (late Guy) of Windsor, NS, Dorothy Constable (Dave) of Burlington, ON, and Marilyn Morgan (late Steve) of London, ON, sister-in-law, Jayne Wilbur of Hampton as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father, Harvey, mother, Mildred, and brother, Clary.

He will be greatly missed, especially by those who knew him best.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday July 11th, 2025, from Holy Family Church, Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
