Mike, Phil, Paul, and Susan are sad to announce that our mom Regina deGrasse has passed away....

Mom was born in Trois Riviere, but her family returned to Bathurst when she was young, where she grew up on Princess Drive.

She left Bathurst in 1957, when she married our dad for a life as an air force wife.

Postings in Quebec, France and Manitoba followed, before dad retired in 1982 after 25 years, and they returned to Bathurst.

Mom made many friends while our parents were in the service, she was known to befriend many of the younger wives, showing them the ropes of life in the armed forces.

She was well known for her homemade bread, candy apples at Halloween and many friends and family still rave about her homemade fudge gifted on birthdays and Christmas.

A stay-at-home mom, she returned to work when our parents came back to Bathurst, joining her sister Alice at Veniot Pharmacy.

Spending many summers at Williams Lake in Manitoba, where she learned to love camping was one of her enjoyments, along with playing Joker Rummy, Rummoli, our family pets and reading, and of course the younger generation of the family who she would love to babysit and now have children of their own who came to see “Gina”.

She was predeceased by her parents Donat and Agnes, siblings Clarrise, Cecile, Jeanine, Louise, Alice, Denise, and Charlie. She will be joining our dad Laurence who passed away in 1991.

She will be sadly missed by her children, daughter in law Lucette, son in law Mitch, her grandchildren Tim (wife Nina) and Tracy ( Frank) and her sister-in-law Jeanine. A very special niece Pauline, who was like a second daughter to mom, and many more nieces and nephews that she so fondly thought of.

A huge thank you to the staff at Integrity for the wonderful care so that we could keep her home, and the nurses with the Extra Mural program, your care and compassion, we are so thankful for all you did for mom.

The last of her immediate family, they will always be remembered as the deGrasses with the glasses.
