The family of Carol Anne Roy-Scott, of Bathurst, NB, sorrowfully announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, July 19, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer.
Carol and her husband, Mike Scott, were fiercely devoted to each other and were together for an amazing 43 years of love and partnership. Her passing is especially heartbreaking for Mike, their two children, Jacob (Alison) Scott and Larissa Scott, and their four grandchildren: Ben, Eva, Kaylee, and Mayv.
She was the beloved daughter of Jean-Robert Roy and Anne Marie Hachey; the dear sister of Peter (Kathleen) Roy; the cherished sister-in-law of Dee-Dee Scott, Dean Scott, Shannon Scott, Shauna (Jamie) Curtis, Troy (Annick) Scott, and Tammy (Kevin) Buchanan; and a loving aunt to Johnson, Davie, James, Thomas, William, and Charlie.
Carol was a devoted Registered Nurse at Chaleur Regional Hospital for nearly 20 years. She first specialized in palliative care, where her deep empathy and calming presence brought dignity and peace to countless patients and families during their most difficult times. She later transitioned to Labour and Delivery where she had the privilege of welcoming new life into the world, and then in the out-patient department. Her colleagues remember her as a compassionate professional who brought her warm smile, quiet strength, and kindness to all of the lives she touched.
Carol was also a gifted artist—creating beautiful pencil drawings in her youth and later designing stunning wreaths and wall art in her home studio. She also had a deep love for decorating and was endlessly creative. She made every house a home with her handmade decorations and artistic touches.
One of her favourite ways to spend time was around a table with people she loved—eating good food, drinking good wine, and listening to her latest favourite music. She was a lifelong fan of hard rock and especially loved attending live concerts to experience her favourite bands in person.
Carol was an excellent cook. Her spaghetti sauce was renowned and her annual holiday banquets for the extended family were unforgettable.
Carol also had a deep love for travel and discovering new cultures, but her heart belonged to New Orleans, where she had recently begun spending winters. Carol found a second home in the city’s rich music, vibrant spirituality, pageantry, costumes, and artistry—all of which deeply reflected her spirit.
Though quiet by nature, Carol was fierce and mighty. She didn’t need to speak loudly to be heard—her presence, strength, and heart spoke volumes.
The family is especially grateful to her dear friend and nurse, Charlene Colwell, for the tender care she provided during Carol’s illness.
All who loved her will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
In honour of Carol, the family encourages donations to the Terry Fox Research Institute in her name.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com).
