It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Roman White, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Ignatius White, the late Evelyn (Doucet) Watson, and his stepfather, the late Joseph Watson.
Roman is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Marjorie (Christie) White of Bathurst; his sons Carl (Christine) White and Kevin (Nicole) White of Beresford; his daughters Lynn Lavigne (late Gilles) and Colleen White of Bathurst; and his sisters-in-law: Cathy Watson and Jean (late Emery) Christie both of Bathurst.
He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Micheline White (Giancarlo), Melissa MacDonald (Ulises), Kristina Knox (Ryan), Pierre White (Kelly), Eric White (Jaëlle), Nathalie White (Rajiv), and Cynthia White (Jesse).
He was also the cherished great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren: Jules, Charlize, Kai, Loïc, Lenora, Elio, and Harrison Roman.
Besides his parents, Roman was predeceased by his brothers Ronald White, Ralph (late Olive) White, and Arnold Watson.
In 1955, Roman founded the Bathurst Sport Centre, which he proudly sold to his sons Kevin and Carl in 1991. The business has since become the beloved Captain’s Cabin, a lasting legacy of his hard work and dedication.
Roman was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 1935, Bathurst) and a member of the UCT Bathurst Council.
He will be remembered as a wonderful, kind, and generous man, known for his joyful laugh that touched all who knew him.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 19, 2025, at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church, Bathurst.
