Bathurst - It is with deep sadness the family announce the passing of Mrs. Luana ‘’Lou’’ Thériault, which occurred on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 86 years old. She was surrounded by her loving family as she took her last breath.
Born in Jacquet River N.B, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Annie (Morrissey) Furlotte.
She is survived by her sister Judy Daigle (late Cletus) of Bathurst.
As well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved greatly.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters: Maurita Bourque (late Norman), Ann Thomas and brother John Furlotte (Yogi).
Luana was the cherished wife of the late Gerald “Gerry” Thériault, whom she shared a remarkable 56 years of marriage. Together, they built a life they loved. Luana was a devoted daughter, sister, friend, Godmother & aunt. She was blessed with a network of friends and family who loved her deeply.
Luana was always known to be a hard laborer. She had a profound love for gardening, knitting and most importantly cooking. Her baking skills were like no other! Her love for cuisine led her and her dearest lifelong friend Emilia Arseneau to open the Amis-Friends restaurant, in Beresford N.B. In addition to operating her restaurant, Luana owned and operated a nursery garden. She went on to manage the general merchandise department at Dominions, where she assumed this role until retirement.
Known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family, Luana was a pillar of strength to many.
The family would like to thank the remarkable staff of 2nd West, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, for the excellent care they provided to Luana and the outstanding amount of love they demonstrated towards her. A special thank you goes out to the staff of the Palliative Care unit, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday September 4 , 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, (1575 St. Peter Ave, in Bathurst N.B). Donations in memory of Luana may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
