It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Lionel Lagacé (Lionel) of Scarborough, Ontario, announces his passing at the Moncton Hospital, on Friday September 5, 2025, at the age of 86, husband of 61 years to predeceased Rosemary (Mary Lou) Lagacé (Sauvé).
Born in Bathurst he was the son of the late Alphée Lagacé and Isabelle Thibeault.
He worked as a Supervisor at Sonoco paper products for over 40 years. In his retirement he was the local handyman for all his friends and family. He loved playing cards, planning a good practical joke and making everyone laugh. He always put everyone’s needs ahead of his own.
He is survived by his two sons and one daughter:
Richard (Michelle) Lagacé, Robert Lagacé and Laura Lagacé
Two grandchildren: Amanda Lagacé (Adrien French) and Ryan Lagacé.
Two great grandchildren: Isabelle French and Samuel French.
One brother: Ronald Legacy.
Five sisters: Geraldine (Eddy) Comeau, Janet (John) Surette, Lina (Raymond) Babin, Murielle (Alexandre) Chamberlain, Lorraine (Cyril Bérubé) Babin and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one brother Roger (Louise) Legacy and one sister Collette (Steve) Stinsin.
There will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
