It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Roy, who went home to be with his Lord on December 4, 2025, at the Foyer de Notre Dame, at the age of 76.

Born in South Bathurst, Norman was the son of the late Rudolph and Regina Roy. He is survived by his former spouse, Carol Roy (née White), with whom he shared two daughters, Tracy (Marc Pitre) and Krista (Ronald Plante). Norman was a devoted and loving father, and nothing brought him more joy than his three cherished grandchildren: Abby, Annika, and Easton.

Norman is survived by his siblings Jean Roy (Jerry) of Toronto, Roger Roy (Jeannette) of Bathurst, Diane Johnson (late John) of Moncton, and Debbie Chiasson of Bathurst.

Several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Elmer, Donald, Perly and Harvey. Sisters Marjorie Ventura and Barbara Kertez.

Norman worked at the mill for most of his life, where he was known for his lighthearted spirit and his love of playing simple, harmless jokes on his coworkers. He created many wonderful memories with his family, especially during summers spent at the cottage and at the beach—moments filled with laughter, relaxation, and togetherness that will forever be held close to their hearts.

Above all, Norman loved his daughters deeply. He was a great father—steadfast, caring, and proud of the family he helped raise.

Honouring his final wishes, Norman’s remains will be donated to the Dalhousie University Medical Neuroscience Department. The family will have a celebration of life held at a later date.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his family and all who knew him.

Donations in memory of Norman may be made to the Alzheimer’s society of Canada or a charity of the donor’s choice.
