Bathurst - Jacques Duval, 75, of Carron Point, Bathurst, NB, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at home, in the loving arms of his partner of 25 years, Angela Boyle, and his son Samuel, after a long and courageous ten-year battle with several serious medical conditions.
Jacques was predeceased by his parents, Georgette and Wilfred Duval, and by his sister Denise.
A lifelong resident of Bathurst, Jacques worked for 30 years at General Electric, where he was respected as a man of many talents and known for his meticulous work ethic. He passed those skills on to his son, Samuel — his pride, joy, and greatest accomplishment. Jacques retired early so he could stay home and spend the past twenty years by Samuel’s side, watching him grow into the fine young man he became.
During his retirement, Jacques enjoyed travelling the world with Angela and the boys, and took great pride in building their cottage, later expanding it into their cherished home in Carron Point. He loved the many family projects, construction ventures, and business developments they undertook together over the years, and was immensely proud of Angela and all she accomplished for their family.
Jacques is also survived by his daughter, Chantal (Daryl) Hawkings, granddaughter Cailey Hawkings, stepson Jacob Knowles, sister Lucie (Michel) Blanchette, and brothers Jean-Guy Duval and Bernard Duval.
A celebration of life for family and close friends will be held at a later date, in accordance with Jacques’ wishes.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ault for his kindness and friendship during this difficult time, as well as to the doctors, nurses, and staff of 2 West at Chaleur Regional Hospital for their compassionate care. Special gratitude is also extended to their beloved pharmacist, Katie, at Harbourview Guardian, whose support was always there when it was needed most.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
