It is with great sadness that the family of Germaine Godin announces her passing which occurred Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Robert and Helen Knowles Memorial Home at the age of 79.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of late Lionel and Emelda (Lavigne) Caissie.

She is predeceased by one brother, Raymond Caissie.

She is survived by two daughters Carol Godin of Kitchener, ON and Helen Couture, of Bathurst, NB.

One granddaughter, Eden (Nick) Harmer, and two grandsons: Tyler Rutledge, and Isaiah Couture.

Four sisters, Regina Hachey, Anita Daigle, Cathy Couture, all of Bathurst, and Albertine Christie of St Catherine’s ON, and one brother Lionel Caissie of Bathurst, and several nephews and nieces who were all very dear to her heart.

Germaine was a loving parent, grandmother, sibling, aunt, and friend. Her ability to nurture those she cared for was evident throughout her life. This was also reflected in the joy she found in taking care of plants and her love of fresh flowers. Her patience, kindness and tender heart brought support and strength to whomever had the privilege of being near her. It seems like she was put on earth to leave an impact on those around her, and she certainly did. Her hugs, her warm heart, her laugh, are all blessings that her family and friends will carry with them. Germaine will be remembered as someone who always saw the best in people, had open arms and time to chat, especially if her favourite snack, chips and dip, was involved!

Extended gratitude goes out to the staff at the Robert and Helen Knowles Memorial Home where she spent her final days filled with activities, smiles, laughs, and love.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2p.m. on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, from Sacred Heart Cathedral Church, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
