It is with great sadness, the family of Arthur Jagoe of Bathurst, announces his peaceful passing on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 97. He is now reunited with his best friend and loving wife of 69 years, Eileen (Scott) Jagoe.

Born in Canobie, NB, he was the son of the late Stuart J. and Audrey E. (Scott) Jagoe. Arthur resided in the house he was born in for the first 80 years of his life. Arthur started working at the age of 14 as a helper in the lumber camps. He also worked on the family farm. In the 1950’s he starting working at Northern Machine Works, also was a security guard for Consolidated Bathurst Pulp Mill and retired from SMI Industries in 1994.  

He was a member of the Central United Church, Clifton, a lifetime member of The Luxor Shriners, and in 2024 he received his 70-year membership certificate from the Lodge St. John #27. Arthur was a life time member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Branch 18 of Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.  

He is survived by two children: Byron (Karen) Jagoe of Edmonton, AB and Margaret (Mike) Daniels of Bathurst, NB.  

One grandson Ryan and two great-grandchildren; Lukas and Audrey.

He is also survived by sisters-in-law; Shirley (late Orin) Jagoe of Bathurst, NB; Lela Branch (Percy) of Big River, NB; Elna Scott of Riverview; Bernice Scott of Quispamsis, NB and brother-in law Russell (late Verda) Logan of Truro, NS.

Several nieces and nephews.

Arthur was predeceased by all of his siblings, brothers, Cleveland Jagoe and Orin Jagoe and sisters, Mina Graham, Sadie Cormier, Laura Branch and Verda Logan.

Arthur worked hard his whole life and loved being on the farm, tending to whatever was needed, whether it be the fields, garden or lawn. He enjoyed his many years of service with Central United Church, from being on the building committee for both the Memorial Hall and the Church; to his work with the Shriners Crippled Children, selling tickets for their many draws, Christmas calendars, fruit cakes and cheese. He always had a smile on his face at the stores and loved to visit with everyone.

Special thank you to the staff of Southern Comfort Villa for their exceptional care over the past six years, Dr. Laboutier, Dr. Ault, Dr. Doucet as well as the staff in Palliative Care at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.

The family receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday October 7, 2026, at 1 pm at the Central United Church in Clifton, with a celebration of his life at 2 pm.

Donations in memory of Arthur may be made to Central United Church, Shriners Transportation Fund or a charity of donor’s choice.
