Bathurst - Mrs. Marcella Martel, 91, wife of Leopold Martel, of Chamberlain Settlement and formerly of Miramichi Ave, Bathurst, died Monday (December 8, 2003) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (Couture) Lavigne. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Leopold Martel, in 1989. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by: 3 Sons: Leonard Martel (Yvonne), Paul-Emile Martel (Marie) and Roger Martel all of Bathurst 6 Daughters: Cécile Allain, Dorina Valentine and Jeanne Gallant (Fred) all of Bathurst Yvette Doucet (Omer) of Halifax, NS Marguerite Rose Pouliot (Rénald) of Quebec, Que. Marcella Vienneau (Jean-Yves) of Petit Rocher 34 Grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Mike The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning (December 12, 2003) at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (Eglise Notre Dame du Mont Carmel), Rough Waters Dr., Bathurst. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
