It is with great sadness that, we the family announce the passing of Daniel Vienneau, husband of Lorrie Gionet of Bathurst, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late George and the late Mae (Lavigne) Vienneau. Besides his wife, he is survived by his brothers: Ulysse, Ralph (Sharon), Eugene, Allain; his sisters: Mona Dale), Louise and Connie. He is also surviving by many nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers: Roly (Irene), Valmond (Kathy) and Mike (Coleen).

Life is very short, unpredictable and unfair. Daniel was only 66, too young. There was so much more for us to do. We were in Toronto for 45 years and moved back a year and a half ago. Daniel was never happier, he repeatedly said how the slow pace of his hometown was right up his alley and was living the dream. He was very comical, always with a witty comeback, also friendly, gentle and easy going.

The Philadelphia Flyers was his favorite hockey team. He has about 80 hats to prove it, along with sneakers and everything else you can think of with a Flyers logo. They frustrated him beyond belief every year. His main passion though, was music, especially 70’s classic rock. He could name the singer of any song or when it was written or who else played on it. We attended hundreds of concerts over the years, many times over. Among his top 10 were: Elton John, CCR, Supertramp, Bad Company and Don Henley. Without a doubt, his absolute favorite were the Eagles. We saw them numerous times in different places. He would watch their DVD’s over and over. I cannot count how many hundreds of times I had to listen to his multiple versions of “Hotel California”, his favorite song. Even in the car, if an Eagles song came on the radio, he would say “crank that up” like it was the first time hearing them.

This brings us back to the opening, life has no guarantees, it’s gone in an instant. Enjoy every second, every minute and day, because even the 49 years we had together feels like a blink of time. I cannot imagine a world Daniel is not a part of. For the rest of my life, I will miss you and love you. I hope you are having a blast in Rock&Roll heaven. Save a front row seat for me Niel. XOXO

As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. In memory of Daniel, donations maybe made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home in Bathurst. www.elhatton.com
