On Thursday October 30th, 2025, at the St. John Regional hospital, Richard Legacy passed away at the age of 59. He was the son of the late Edgar Legacy and the late Isella Legacy.

He is survived by his partner Melissa; his children Marc-André (Sabrina) of Sainte-Rosette, Sophie of Bathurst, and Justin (Natasha Ouellette) of Bathurst; and his grandchildren Miguel, Silas, Loïc, Owen, Loriève, Levi and Avery. His sisters Donna (Kevin), Doreen and Carole (Dean), along with many other family members and friends.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a granddaughter Maève.

Richard had a deep love for nature. He could be found spending time in the woods at any time of the year, camping, hunting, and fishing. He knew all the best fishing spots. Next time you’re in the woods, think of him, he’ll be there. He loved his family dearly and always brought joy wherever he went; his contagious laughter could be heard anywhere he went.

The family will receive relatives and friends after 1p.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.

If possible, in memory of Richard you may wear an item of camouflage.

We will all miss him deeply. We love you, Dad. Rest in peace.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Bathurst Emergency Department, Dr. Blanchard, the paramedics, the RCMP officers, and the Robertville fire department, as well as the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Saint John Hospital, for their excellent care and compassion.
