With appreciation and gratitude for a life well lived, the family wishes to announce the death of Harry H. Williamson, K.C., of Bathurst, on October 30, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late H. H. “Bud” Williamson and Alice (Brown) Williamson. He was predeceased by his sister, Mildred (Hayden) Hatheway, parents-in-law Tommy and Connie Jamieson, and his brother-in-law, Andy Jamieson.

He is survived by his wife, best friend and soulmate Joan (Jamieson) Williamson, daughter Carolyn Williamson (Brian Whitmore), son H. H. Bud Williamson, brothers-in-law Hayden Hatheway, Allan (Anne Marie) Jamieson, and Peter Jamieson, as well as several nieces and nephews. The last ten years of his life were made immeasurably brighter by his granddaughter, Betty Williamson. He loved them all dearly.

Harry was known for his love of the outdoors, enjoying summers at the cottage, winters at the camp, and sunsets year-round. A consummate storyteller and generous host, Harry had a way of making everyone feel welcome, special and important. Embodying the spirit of hospitality, Harry liked nothing better than to share plentiful food and drink with his many friends.

An avid traveller, Harry loved exploring the world with Joan and friends, but there was nowhere he was happier than in Bathurst, which he believed was the most perfect place on Earth. He was always happiest near the water, whether he was fly fishing, boating, or driving along the coast. His deep interest in, and knowledge of, local history was unparalleled. He remembered the people, their connections, and how they shaped the place he loved so much.

In addition to his career as a highly respected lawyer, his service to community extended beyond Bathurst. He was a member of the New Brunswick Law Foundation and the Rotary Club, founding member of the Bathurst Marina, board member of the New Brunswick Securities Commission, President of the Law Society of New Brunswick and Chairman of the Bathurst Trust Foundation and the Port of Belledune. His most cherished contribution was that of mentor to six articling students, all of whom have gone on to have acclaimed careers; he was immensely proud of all of them. He also cared very deeply for everyone who worked with him and for him, both at the office and at home.

As he began to slow down following his retirement, Harry’s friends went out of their way to make sure the stories continued, for which he and the family are extremely grateful. The family is comforted by the countless stories of how friends and family treasured those visits as much as he did.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10th afternoon 2-4pm and evening from 7-9pm at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Harry’s Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 11th at 2 pm at Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club.

Donations in memory of Harry can be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Herman J. Good VC (NB No. 18) Branch Poppy Fund, The Old Bathurst Post Office Preservation Project (www.oldbathurstpostoffice.ca) or a charity of your choice.
