It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother Laura Julia Hutchison, at the age of 98, which occurred on Friday December 26, 2025, at the George Dumont Hospital, in Moncton. Laura (Laurie as she was known) was born in Bathurst, NB, in 1927. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Lillian Hodgins. She married her late husband Malcolm in 1957.

She is survived and will be sadly missed by her children Kim of New Minas, NS, Todd (Denise) of Dieppe, NB, and Tim (Marie Mossman) of Upper Golden Grove, NB. Her grandchildren Ryan Rodrigues, Derek Rodrigues (Michelle), Amy Rodrigues, Nicole Bourque (Steven), Michelle Hutchison and two great grandchildren Lincoln and Oliver Rodrigues. She also had nieces and nephews that were very special to her.

Besides her parents and husband, Laurie was predeceased by her daughter Sally, son Tom, and siblings John, Bob, Doug and Margaret Ann.

Her children came first in her life. She was selfless and devoted to her family and friends. Her home was always open to everyone.

Our parents opened a family business in 1978 called Sally’s House of Gifts in Bristol, NB. They sold the business some 20 years later to retire.

Laurie was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star in the Bathurst and Florenceville Chapters.

She and Dad also enjoyed square dancing and made many friends dancing their way up and down the Saint John River Valley.

In 2017 she moved into the Oasis Residence in Dieppe. The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff of Oasis for the care provided to Mom over the past 8 years.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com). Service and interment will take place at a later date.
