Bathurst – It is with deep sadness that the family of “Marie-Anne” Mary Anne White, 88, announce her passing, which occurred Saturday August 1, 2026, at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. 

Born in South Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Regina (Chamberlain) Pitre.

She was the beloved wife of Roger White.

She was active in her church, community and created a happy and beautiful home for her family. She will always be missed, always loved and always remembered. 

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Marie-Lise “Lisa” Pitre; seven sons: Emilien Pitre, Rudolph Pitre (Brenda), Eric Pitre (Monique), Michel Pitre, Leonard Pitre, Ernest Pitre and Allan Pitre. 

Sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Two sisters: Anita, Delima and three brothers: Robert, Omer and Eugène. 

Several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a great-granddaughter and several brothers and sisters. 

Mary was employed for many years as a school cafeteria supervisor and was sell respected by students and staff. She was an honest and energetic worker with a warm smile and a “Joie de vivre”. She lived a life filled with love, compassion and kindness. Her life was a calendar of events filled with travel, music, dancing, bingo and playing cards with her friends. She was a comfortable working in one of her beautiful vegetable gardens as she was greeting a bus load of tourists to our city.

In 2001, Mary Anne was recognized for her dedication and many years of service at the Villa Chaleur. In 2004, she received a volunteer Recognition Award from the city of Bathurst. Mary Anne embraced a life with infectious enthusiasm and found joy in the everyday moments with her family and friends. She has a warmth and generosity that touched the lives of many. She had the kind of energy and outlook that always made her seem young.

Her family would like to offer thanks to those who shewed kindness, compassion and support during these difficult times.

There will be no visitations at the funeral home. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday August 11, 2026, at 2 pm from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
