In Memory of David Morison, FCA

The family of David Angus Morison is saddened to announce his passing on August 18, 2026, following a fall. He was 79 years old.

Dave was born in Montreal in 1946, the first child of the late Elizabeth and Bill Morison. The family later moved to Toronto, where he enjoyed a happy childhood.

Dave graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and began his career in accounting with the Winnipeg firm Clarkson Gordon, now Ernst & Young. He went on to write the national Chartered Accountant examinations, which at the time had a failure rate of approximately 50%. Dave achieved the eighth-highest mark in Canada that year. He became a partner at Clarkson Gordon and, for five years, was the partner responsible for the Air Canada audit. In 1997, he was honoured with the designation Fellow of the Chartered Accountants (FCA).

Throughout his career, Dave was deeply involved in his profession and his community. He served as a minor hockey coach in Winnipeg for seven years, was a United Way section chair, and was a longtime member of Breezy Bend Golf Club. He served as President of Breezy Bend from 1984 to 1986, President of Golf Manitoba from 1993 to 1994, and President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba from 2000 to 2001.

After leaving Ernst & Young, Dave worked for several years as a Practice Advisor with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, followed by a position as Executive Director of Golf Manitoba.

In 2005, Dave and Brenda relocated to Bathurst, New Brunswick, where he quickly became an integral part of the community. He served as volunteer treasurer of First United Church for 18 years and as treasurer of Miramichi Presbytery. He also helped with the finances at Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club for 19 years, served as treasurer of the Legion, and volunteered as a Rules Referee for Golf NB. In recognition of his many years of service, Dave was honoured as Golf NB’s Volunteer of the Year in 2019.

Dave leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Brenda Parrott; his sister, Susie (Ross) Green, and their children Sari, Jesse and Cody, and great-nephew Kai. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Joan (Jim), brother-in-law Trevor (Carol), and nephews George (Anca) and Robert (Kendra).

Dave’s was a life defined by service — to his community, his profession, and the sports organizations he cared so deeply about. He gave generously of his time, knowledge and energy, always willing to lend a hand or share his expertise. To Brenda, he was her biggest cheerleader, supporting and encouraging her in all her endeavours. He will be deeply missed by Brenda, his family, and the wide circle of friends whose lives he touched.

Funeral services will be held at First United Church, on Tuesday, August 25 at 11 am. A reception will follow in the Donald Eddy Hall.

The family would appreciate donations to First United Church or the Bathurst Volunteer
