Halifax, NS … Judith “Judy” Murphy, 48, Kelonwa, BC and formerly of Bathurst, passed away on Sunday (December 23, 2007) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Doris (Shubley) Murphy. She went to the Okanagan University College and later worked at the “Okanagan Family Society” working as a Social Worker with addicts and troubled youths. She was a very compassionate person. She has been battling Chron’s disease for 20 years, spending the last 3½ years at the QE II in Halifax. She is survived by: Four sisters: Marilyn Smith (Keith Ellis) of Truro, NS Joanne Dempsey (Carlson) of Stonehaven, NB Patricia Brown (Ronald) and Audrey Roy both of Bathurst Two brothers: Henry Jr. of Kelonwa, BC William (Aline Roy) of Petit-Rocher, NB Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews whom she loved dearly and many friends. There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (December 29, 2007) from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery, Bathurst, in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation or a favorite charity.
