Bathurst - Alexander "Alex" Doucet, 86, of the Villa Chaleur and formerly of South Bathurst, passed away on Friday (April 25, 2008) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Petit-Rocher, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Savoie) Doucet. He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Army in Canada and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C., Br. 18 Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He was a former business agent and member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 512. Alex was a kind, loving, generous man who enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting and sharing time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (LaPointe) Doucet of the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst. Two daughters: Veronica Ratchford (David) and Debbie Branch (Kent) both of Bathurst One brother: Henry Doucet (Ruth) of Bathurst One sister: Elizabeth "Betty" Bourque of Moncton 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers; Hector, Alphonse and half brother; Wilfred. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (April 29, 2008) at 11:00 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Burial will be in the parish cemetery later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Donations in memory of Alex may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes Foundation or a favorite charity.
