Bathurst - Leo Gallagher, 79, of Mount Carmel St., Bathurst, passed away on Monday (September 15, 2008) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late William R. and Ina (White) Gallagher.
He worked for the former Stone Consolidated Paper Mill and was a member of the Herman J. Good V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.
Besides his wife, Lyla (Ramsay) Gallagher, he is survived by:

Janet Russell (John) of Bathurst
Two granddaughters: Jennie & Jessica.
Five brothers:
William (Muriel) and
David (Linda) both of Bathurst.

Roger (Tina) of Windsor, ON

Two sisters:
Rachel Showkowy (Pete) of Oshawa, ON
Marilyn MacMinus (Chuck) of Cotton, ON
Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by and infant son; Norman, brothers; Bernard, Oscar, Albert, John and a sister; Blanche Hurst.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning (September 18, 2008) at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, East Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Donations in memory of Leo, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
