Bathurst - Alphonse Couture, 79, of Blanchard Ave., Bathurst, passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday March l4, 2009. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Benoit and Dora (Doucet) Couture. He worked as a driver for the former Grey's Velvet Ice Cream. He was pre-deceased by his wife Evangeline (Boucher) Couture. He is survived by his friend; Léona Noël of Bathurst Three sons: Johnny (Claudette LaPlante) and Robert (Suzanne Bertin) both of Petit-Rocher Danny (Jackie Gauthier) of Big River Three daughters: Dianne Lavigne (Roger Comeau) of Beresford Betty Anne Dobson (Jim Tabor) of Quebec Rose Marie Anderson (Rodney) of Alberta Six brothers: Ronald (Florence), Richard both of Bathurst Jean-Marie (Patricia) of Ontario Anthony of Toronto Claude of Ontario Donat of Hull, Que. Three sisters: Judy Couture of Bathurst Regina Legacy (Arthur) of Saint John Christine Graveline of Toronto 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The body will rest after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday (March 18, 2009) at 2 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, East Bathurst, in the spring. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Wednesday from noon until time of Funeral.
