Bathurst – Mrs. Frances "Fran" Peterson, 84, wife of the late Harold Eldon "Pete" Peterson, of Stout Court, Bathurst, passed away on Saturday (May 7, 2011) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Frances was born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Alymur and Charlotte (Hodgins) Smith.

She worked at Kent’s Department Store, in banking in Bathurst and the former Bathurst Power and Paper Mill.  She was a Provincial Life Member and Primary Life Member of the I.O.D.E. and served for over 30 years including treasurer of Nicolas Denys I.O.D.E.  Fran belonged to the Gloucester Chapter of the I.O.D.E.  She was a member of the Bathurst Lionettes.  

Frances will be sadly missed by;  Two daughters:  Karen Peterson of Bathurst and Shelagh Peterson of Moncton.  Four sisters; Grace Sillig (Joachim) of Toronto, ON, Jessie Rosborough (late Earl), Kathleen Fleury (late Norm) and Rhoda Scott (late George), all of Bathurst.  Sister-in-law, Lois Dickson (Garnet) of Bathurst.  Grandchild, Jennifer, great-grandchild, Katy, and by nieces and nephews.  Sisters-in-law, Ruth Larson (Ray) and Vivian Peterson (late Arthur) both of Ontario.  She was pre-deceased by a brother, Jimmy.

The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday afternoon (May 10, 2011) at 2 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst.  Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.  Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery, Bathurst.
