Mrs. Yvonne Brideau, 75, of Victoria Ave., Bathurst, died Sunday (January 23, 2005) at Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Lucie (Fournier) McLaughlin.
During her life, she was a Foster Parent to 19 children and 39 elderly men and women.
Besides her husband Pierre Brideau, she is survived by: Three sons: Gerald Brideau (Rose) of Madran, Marven Brideau (Pauline) of Allardville and Peter Brideau (Carole) of South Tetagouche; Eight daughters: Annette Fournier (Sandie) of Pont LaFrance, Rita White (Percy), Marie-Louise Theresa Black (late Basil), Debbie Willet (Mike) and Gloria Chiasson (Maurice), all of Bathurst, Bertha Brideau (late Tom Roy) of Petit-Rocher, Sandra Colestock (Richard) of Montague, PEI and Elva Doucet (Reno) of Pointe Verte; One brother: Isaac McLaughlin (Thérèse) of Neguac; Four half-brothers: Ludger Brideau (Marthe) of Brantville,
Wilfred McLaughlin (Lorraine) of Saint John, Gerard McLaughlin (Clémentine) of Baie Ste Anne and Joseph McLaughlin (Debbie) of Saint John; Two half-sister: Matilda LaCasse (Jean-Marie) of Rivière du Portage and Amanda Kelly (late Camille) of Neguac; her step-mother, Adeline Brideau of Rivière du Portage; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by newborn son Henry; brothers Gilbert, Alcide, Donat; sisters Martha, Elizabeth, Jessie and Anita.
The body will rest after 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (January 27, 2005) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visiting hours are Tuesday from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday from noon till time of Funeral.
