Surrounded by his family at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Roland C. Boudreau of Bathurst, passed away on Friday June 14th, 2019 at the age of 83.
Born in Pointe-Verte, NB, he was the son of the late Charles Boudreau and the late Marguerite Godin.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie (née Lavigne); son Roland Jr (Pierrette) of Gatineau, Qu, daughters, Paulette (Jocelyn Lagacé), Rachelle (John Guitard), Denise (Ronnie Arseneau) all of Pointe-Verte and Claire (Steve Kirstiuk) of Surrey, BC; nine grandchildren: Marie-Josée, Johnathan, Marc, Mélanie, Philippe, Justin, Mickaël, Jaclyn and Robert; six great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Arielle, Maïka, Cabrel, Joaquim and Rosalie; a sister: Marie-Claire; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Roland was predeceased by brothers: Jean-Guy and Rodrigue; and sister Carmella.
Roland was a Businessman, Politician and Community Volunteer. His career started in Business, he went on to own his family business all while being very actively involved in his village and community volunteering in the Church and Municipal affairs, he then went on to be active in provincial politics. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick representing the riding of Nigadoo-Chaleur and Minister of Natural Ressources. He ended his career as Vice President of the Workers Compensation Board. After his retirement he sat on the Regional Health Authority Board, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. However, more than anything, his wife and his family whom he loved immensely were at the heart of his life.
The family will receive condolences at the Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford, NB.
Visiting hours Thursday June 20th from 7 to 9 pm. and Friday June 21st, 2019 from 12 noon until time of departure for the funeral mass. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent-de-Paul church in Pointe-Verte, NB, Friday June 21st at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Pointe-Verte.
