Bathurst - Keith Dobson, 86, of Murray Ave., Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday (August 3, 2005) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Cap Tormentine, NB, on April 7, 1919, he was the only child of the late Kenneth and Ethel (Allen) Dobson. Keith graduated from Dorchester High School in 1936, Mount Allison in 1940 BSC and served as a Flying Officer Navigator in World War II, with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada and overseas from 1943 - 1945. He worked at the former Bathurst Pulp and Paper Ltd. in various managerial positions and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. With a strong desire to serve his community, Keith became involved with the Lions Club, Lodge St. John, No. 27, F& AM of the Masonic Order, Bathurst and chartered member of Bathurst Shinners, member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst, & president of the Bathurst Chamber of Commerce. Minor hockey was organized by the Royal Canadian Legion with Keith as coordinator from 1947 ? 1961. His philosophy of character development, sportsmanship and good citizenship has had an impact on many lives. Keith's love of fishing & hunting led him to enjoy his many trips to his camp on the 44. Keith was inducted to the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 and was honored with Freeman of the City in 1997. Keith is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara (Emmerson) Dobson. Sons: Kenneth Dobson (Marina) and Richard Dobson (Glenda), both of Bathurst Daughters: Ann Duffy (Paul) of Hillsborough Kathleen Scott (Bryan) of Bathurst Dianne Gendron (Michael) of Pembroke, ON Marjorie Lindberg (Ed) of Vancouver, BC 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Barbara Lee, a son James 'Jim' and a grandson Chad Lemire. The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. A celebration of Keith's life will be held on Friday afternoon (August 5, 2005) at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst, with a reception to follow. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery, Bridge St., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A Legion service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 3:00p.m. and a Masonic service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. from the Funeral Home.
