Joyce (Moody) Neuburg left this world peacefully June 10, 2023. Predeceased by her beloved husband Henry, and her parents Gordon and Lillian (Colpitts) Moody, Joyce was the last of 4 sisters Hazel, Elva (Stairs) and Gladys (Buraglia) to leave us. She is survived by nieces, Linda Buraglia-Wood and Kathy Stairs-Guderyan, nephews, Rocco Buraglia and Bruce Stairs, as well as numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

It is difficult to capture Joyce’s life in a few words. Joyce lived large, a go-getter, an organizer, efficient and incredibly generous. Known for her tenacity and kind heart, she never gave up on a person or a cause she believed in. Joyce helped many without recognition or acknowledgment. Her door was always open, at home or work and everyone was welcome.

Joyce began her career with Bathurst Power and Paper (eventually Consolidated Bathurst) and continued to work there, in the Toronto office, until retiring. She worked her way up to be the first and only female sales person, responsible for selling creative packaging for any manufactured products in the Ontario territory. She was well respected by her co-workers and her many clients.

Joyce met Henry, genuinely the love of her life, in Ontario. They enjoyed many yearly vacations to Europe and the USA. When she retired, Joyce returned to Bathurst and started her own small company in marketing services. Joyce also actively supported and volunteered in many charitable organizations notably the Cancer Society, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst Art Society, the Bathurst Heritage Museum and many others.

Joyce was very interested in and enjoyed photography, art/painting, gardening and entertaining friends. Instrumental in the formation (and recruiting of members) of the Scottish Cultural Association of Bathurst region; Joyce held leadership positions, contributed significantly to its success and was responsible for construction of the Scottish cairn near downtown Bathurst. In later years, she supported and worked at the Bathurst Heritage Museum every week and collaborated on the design and development of the Scottish display at the museum.

Many thanks to the care workers at Foyer Chez Joanne and Dr. Wade for the loving care provided to Joyce in her final years.

A time for stories and reminiscing will be held in the reception room of the Elhatton’s Funeral Home (chapel entrance) on Friday, June 16th from 2 to 4 pm, bagpipes included! There will be no formal funeral service. Due to floral sensitivities, please no additional flowers.
