Bathurst – It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Everett Pentland, husband of the late Jeannette (Pelletier) Pentland, which occurred at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in Bathurst on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the age of 90.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late George “Evy” and Hazel (Smith) Pentland.
He is survived by his children:
Kimberly Roy (Maurice), Sheryl Pentland (Late Kevin Augustus) both of Bathurst, and Allan Pentland (Roxane) of Ontario.
Grandchildren: Emily, Angelica (Cody), Ethan and Ava and his great-grandchildren: Hazel and Christopher-Elliot.
His two brothers: William (Shirley) and Donald (Joan), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was pre-deceased by his son, Randy. His six sisters: Viola, Verna, Lorna, Shirley, Barbara and Janet. His nephew Leslie and nieces; Diane, Barbara and Brenda.
He started his working career with his uncle Jerry O’Neil delivering ice to the people of Bathurst and surrounding area, which he fondly remembered. He went on to drilling with Larson Brothers when they discovered Brunswick Mines in the early 1950’s. He worked all over Canada, at various drilling companies until his retirement.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Herman J. Good, VC Branch #18.
Everett loved to drink tea, going to his camp in Middle River and spending time with his grandchildren baking cookies; He was also a huge animal lover, always pet sitting for his daughter or having a dog of his own (Teddy). He would also visit on a daily basis with his best friend and nephew David.
The family would like to thank Cindy Duguay, the Vienneau Residence, the staff on the fourth floor west at the Chaleur Regional Hospital and the Foyer Notre Dame De Lourdes for the wonderful care he has received over the last seven years.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6th, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. from the United Cemetery on St. Anne St.
Donations in memory of Everett may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
