With celebration of a life well lived we, the family, announce the passing of, Helen Annie Payne, 95, of Bathurst, which occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst after a brief illness.
Born in Price Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Isabella (Harding) Price.
Helen was a homemaker but easily transitioned to a farm hand when needed to drive a tractor or herd cattle on the family farm. She was also very active within her community in South Tetagouche serving with the Women’s Institute both locally and provincially. She was a longtime member of St. George’s Anglican Church and the former church of The Ascension in South Tetagouche. Helen’s baking and cookies made her place a favorite stop for her grandchildren as well as many of the neighbourhood children.
She is survived by her children: Eleanor Nicholson (Ensor) of Moncton and Robert Payne (Maureen) of South Tetagouche.
Her four grandchildren; Kimberly Pringle (Amos), Mark Nicholson (Marie Hélène), Riley Payne (Alex) and Scott Payne.
Five great-grandchildren; Layla, Levi, Annabelle, Felix and Jackson.
A brother; Robert Price (Edna) of Miramichi.
She was predeceased by her husband Willard in 2010, sisters, Vera, Doris and a brother Roy.
Our family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of the Southern Comfort for their care and friendship. To the palliative care team at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, your compassion in her final days was so appreciated.
