It is with deep sadness that the family of Francis Hills announces his passing after a brief illness, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst on Monday December 1, 2025, at the age of 74. Born to the late Charles Hills and Lois Hills (Daley), Francis was a cherished son, brother, and uncle whose gentle nature touched many lives. He is now reunited with his brother Harold Hills, who passed before him.
Francis leaves behind his loving siblings Sharon Lavigne (Maurice), Terry Hills, Richard Hills, and Ellen Thériault (Danny). He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Known throughout town for his friendly smile and kind spirit, Francis worked for many years selling newspapers for the Northern Light. His dedication to his work made him a familiar and welcome presence in the community.
Francis was also a proud and enthusiastic member of the Special Olympics in Bathurst. He participated in events, built strong friendships, and found great joy in being part of a team.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Résidence Boudreau Home for their care and kindness over the last few years, which brought comfort to Francis and meant so much to those who loved him.
Francis will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His gentle soul, warm conversations, and genuine kindness will remain in the hearts of many.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. In his memory, donations may be made to the Saint George’s Church, causes that were meaningful to him and to his family.
