Bathurst - It is with deep sorrow that we the family, announce the passing of Dianne Marie Cotton, loving wife and best friend of her devoted husband, Alan. Dianne passed away on December 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and service. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Bathurst Regional Hospital, particularly those in the palliative care unit, for their compassion and care, as well as the medical team at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, for their compassion and exceptional care.

Born in Saint John, NB, Dianne was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha (Wells) Parsons.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Alan, her dear sister Judy, several nieces and one nephew, and friends that she met along her way, all of whom she held close to her heart.

She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

A proud graduate of Saint John High School, Dianne began her career with ScotiaBank, where she met her future husband, Alan, originally from Prince Edward Island. The couple married on April 6, 1968, and together shared a long and loving life. Dianne’s work with ScotiaBank led them to move eight times, including a period in Antigua West Indies, during those years, she became an ardent student of yoga, embracing its discipline and calm with enthusiasm.

Dianne and Alan later settled in their final home in Bathurst, NB where Dianne’s compassionate spirit became deeply rooted in the community. A lifelong lover of animals—especially her dogs—she was instrumental in establishing a used bookstore to raise funds for the local animal shelter. She managed and volunteered at the books store for 22 years, helping to raise thousands of dollars for the animals she cared for so deeply.

Dianne was also a devoted member of St. George’s Anglican Church, where she lived her faith through service. She participated in women’s Bible studies, accompanied clergy on pastoral visits to hospitals and care homes, and volunteered generously in many areas of parish life. Her quiet strength, warmth, and willingness to help others touched everyone who knew her.

In retirement, Dianne and Alan enjoyed traveling extensively in their motorhome—journeying south during the winter months and exploring locally during the summers. These adventures brought them joy, peace, and cherished memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, when family and friends will gather to honour a life lived with grace, compassion, and unwavering love.

May Dianne rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and deeply missed.

Love always and forever, Alan.

Donations in Dianne’s memory may be made to the Bathurst Animal Shelter or St. George’s Anglican Church. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
