William Roy “Bill” Murphy
Bathurst - It is with heavy hearts we the family, announce the passing of Bill who died peacefully at the Chaleur General Hospital on Thursday December 11, 2025, after a long battle with Chron’s disease.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Henry and Doris (Shubley) Murphy.
Except for a short a stint in the military and out in western Canada, he spent most of his life in Bathurst. He worked a number of years for the City of Bathurst.
Bill loved to cook and got to open his own restaurant “The Coffee Stain” which he ran for many years. After retiring he took up gardening as a hobby.
He is survived by one son Josh (Nikki Fournier) Murphy and grandson Myles of Dieppe, NB.
Sisters Marilyn Smith of Truro, NS, Joanne (Carlson) Dempsey of Stonehaven, NB, Audrey Murphy and brother-in-law Ron Brown of Bathurst, NB along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Henry Jr. “Sonny” and James, sisters Patricia Brown (Ronald) and Judith Murphy, half-brothers Jack and Robert Murphy.
Per wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Donations in memory of Bill can be made to a favourite charity.
