It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Gérard David of Big River, husband of the late Rose-May (Richard) David, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Willard David and the late Eva (Vienneau) David.
Gérard is survived by two loving daughters: Carole David and Gisèle David (Randy Losier) both of Big River, and his pride and joy, grand-daughter Emma Rose Rodgers.
Two brothers: Claude (Jacqueline) and John (Iris Sheppard) both of Bathurst.
Five sisters: Germaine David, Annette David, Brenda Couture, Monique Doucet (Alcide) and Nicole David (Jean-Claude Morais). All of Bathurst.
Nieces and nephews.
And, being fortunate to have found second chance at love, Gérard is also survived by his special friend Rollande Boudreau.
He retired as a welder from the former Brunswick Mines. He enjoyed life with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping upriver, summers camping at the beach, working in his garage, and let’s not forget his bowling team.
As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Donations in memory of Gérard may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the care Gerard received.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
