Elzear Guignard husband to Barbara Guignard from Bridge St., passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Saturday March 21, 2026, after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 85.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Ludger Guignard and the late Ella (Paulin) Guignard.
He is survived by two sons: Terry (Theresa) Guignard of Robertville and Michael (Jennifer) Guignard of Sudbury Ont. One daughter: Nicole Heiden (Mark) of Ottawa, Ont.
Four grandchildren: Austin, Rebecca, Willow and Kalah Rayne.
One brother: Victor (Paula) Guignard of Bathurst.
Three sisters: Leona Lavigne, Marie LeBlanc both of Bathurst and Regina Lavigne of Hamilton Ont.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Elzear worked at the Bathurst post office until his retirement. He loved to bowl and spent many hours in his beloved workshop making beautiful wood working projects for himself and his family to enjoy. Elzear loved his wife very much and would sometimes tell her to stay out of the shop because he was working on something special for her.
The family would like to thank the Extra Mural Nurses and the doctors that treated him throughout his sickness these past two years. Thanks also to the staff in Palliative care and the Bathurst Hospital.
As per his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in memory of Elzear may be made to your local SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst.
