Mr. Roger Roy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 87. He was the son of the late Onésiphore Roy and Alberta Cormier, and was lovingly raised by his father and stepmother, Adéline Doucet.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mona (née Boudreau), his children Linda and Robert, and his grandchildren Eric and Alyssa Roy Kavcic, and Adam and Kaitlyn Roy.
He will be missed by his siblings Frances (Frederick), Lise (Paul), Yvette (late Yoland), Opal (René), Rita (late Serge), Pierre (Mélita), André (Sonia), Jacinthe, René (Frances), and Annette (Denis), his in-laws Guy (Irene), Edwidge and family and Rina (Roderique), several nieces and nephews, as well as his late sister-in-law Marguerite Boudreau and his late brothers-in-law Roderique Boudreau and Joseph Boudreau.
Roger dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. He was a proud veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and was the first medic to reach the rank of Base Chief Warrant Officer. He retired after 30 years and then turned his attention to local needs by joining the Knights of Colombus.
Throughout his life, Roger was an avid storyteller and loved nothing more than spinning a yarn for his family, friends, and neighbours. We will all carry his stories with us in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 270 rue Centre, Beresford, NB (www.mfheritage.com), on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, from 2 – 4 p.m.
