Beresford - It is with profound sadness, Lynda LaRoux’s family announces her passing on September 13th, 2026, at Chaleur Regional Hospital.

Some people leave a mark on your life through grand gestures. Others do it simply by loving you, showing up, and making you feel like you belong. That was Lynda. Born on July 21, 1958, Lynda spent her entire life in Bathurst, a place she was proud to call home. From a young age, she lived life with energy and enthusiasm. She played track & field and softball, became an avid curler and golfer, and even played the guitar. She had a competitive spirit, a beautiful personality, and a way of making the people around her feel cared for.

In 1979, she married Gary, beginning a partnership that would span more than four decades. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendships, hard work, laughter, and countless memories.

Lynda dedicated her career to the insurance industry. She began with the same company where she would remain for many years, building a career she was incredibly proud of. Along the way, she fostered many lasting friendships and became known not only for her success, but for the caring way in which she treated people. Her dedication and talent were recognized many times throughout her career, including being honored as a top broker. She took great pride in what she accomplished, and rightly so.

But if you asked Lynda what she was most proud of, the answer would have been simple: her family—and especially her daughter, Kim, and grandson Rowan. In 1998, Lynda and Gary found their own little piece of heaven at Kent Lodge Beach. What began as their cottage became so much more. It was a place where family gathered, where memories were made, and where Lynda was happiest. The beach became part of who she was.

Some of the best memories of Lynda will always be found around the cottage table. She loved hosting family dinners and cooking for the people she loved. In many ways, cooking was Lynda’s love language. She didn’t simply prepare a meal—she created a reason for everyone to come together. Her happiness came from seeing the people she loved gathered around her table, enjoying good food, good conversation, and one another’s company.

Recently, Lynda began a difficult journey with early-onset dementia. It was a journey that changed many things and brought challenges that no family ever wishes to face. But those who loved her, choose not to let the final chapter define her. Instead, we will remember Lynda for all the chapters that came before it. We will remember her laugh, her warmth, her strength, her beautiful personality, her competitive spirit, and most of all, her fierce love for her family. We will remember sunny days at the beach, family gathered around the cottage table, the sound of her guitar, days spent curling and golfing, and the many friendships she made throughout her life.

Lynda leaves behind her beloved husband, Gary; her daughter, Kim (Andy Vautour); her grandson, Rowan, who brought her immense pride and joy; her sister, Eva (Steve Russell); her brothers, Marc (France Galien), Danny (Chantal Theriault); her niece, Jennifer; and nephews Jason, Justin, and Rene. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Willow, who stayed faithfully by her side and brought her comfort throughout her journey. Lynda will also be missed by several life-long friends. She is now resting with her parents who passed before her, Emmanuel & Grace.

Lynda’s life was not defined by dementia. It was defined by love, family, friendship, hard work, laughter, and the beach. For those who knew her, the beach will never quite feel the same. There will always be a place at the table for Lynda, and there will always be a little piece of her at Kent Lodge Beach, where she found her own piece of heaven.

We were lucky enough to call her mom, wife, nanny, sister, and beloved friend. We will carry her love with us, cherish the memories she gave us, and treasure her memory forever.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th at 2:00 PM from Elhatton’s Funeral Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Elhatton’s Funeral Home in Bathurst. Donation in Lynda’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
