It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Rene Tremblay on September 29, 2026, in Saint John, New Brunswick, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in 1946, in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Peter was the cherished son of the late Paul Joseph Tremblay and Irene Tremblay (nee Gallant). He lived a life marked by integrity, compassion, and devotion to family and community.

Peter was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws, Georges and Bella Savoie; and his brother-in-law, Jimmy (1970).

Peter leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Murielle 'mom' whom he adored; his son, Shawn (Jennifer); his daughter, Kimberly (Christian); his cherished grandchildren, Brayden, Dylan, Isabella, and Zachary; his brother, Jesse Tremblay (Brenda); his niece, Shannon Tremblay; his nephew, Clay Tremblay; his faithful feline companion, Bella; and many extended family members, friends, and former colleagues.

His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He took great pride in their accomplishments and will be remembered for the wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love he shared with them.

Peter took great pride in his 28-year career with the Bathurst City Police, where he served with dedication and integrity before retiring as a Sergeant. He later continued his service with the Bathurst Sheriff's Office for 12 years. Throughout nearly four decades in law enforcement, he earned the respect of colleagues and community members through his fairness, leadership, and commitment to public service.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in the legacy Peter leaves behind: a life of honour, service, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Michael, nurse Kim, and the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology Department, as well as Dr. Jessica Guimond-Hemmings and the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit, for the compassion, care, and kindness shown to dad and our family in his final days.

His funeral service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Bathurst on Wednesday, October 14th, at 2:00 p.m. with a light luncheon to follow. Donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Bathurst SPCA or the Food Bank.
