Bathurst … D. C. “Bud” Walsh, 82, of Youghall Dr., Bathurst, died Sunday (February 18, 2007) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Springhill, NS, he was the son of the late Dr. Francis Eugene and Louise (Campbell) Walsh. He attended elementary school in Springhill, NS, and Rothesay Collegiate School in Rothesay, NB. Upon graduation, he was excepted as and officer candidate for the 1st grad class to graduate from the Royal Canadian Naval College at Royal Roads. Upon graduation from RCNC he joined the RCVN Volunteer Navy and served during World War II serving the mid oceaners for the North Atlantic convoy systems. After the War in 1946, he accepted his discharge and attended Mt. Allison Nova Scotia Technical College in Mining Engineering. He accepted a position with the Department of Mines in Ottawa. In 1951 he went to work for Comenco at the Con Mine in Yellow Knife, NWT. In 1956 he went to Bralorne Pioneer in Bralorne, BC. In 1962 he worked for Grand Duke in Grand Duke, BC. Accepting a position with Geco, he arrived in Bathurst in 1962 and from there he retired from Brunswick Mines in 1987. He continued to consult for other mining company’s after his retirement. He was past president and life member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst, passed board member of the Bathurst Marina and Aquatic Center. He married Joan Power in 1965 and lived an extremely happy life on the waterfront at Youghall Dr. and was a fixture at the marina. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Joan, in 2002. He is survived by: Two Sons: William Walsh of Bathurst, NB Charles Walsh (Cara) of Port Elgin, ON One sister: Margaret Hamilton (Arthur) of Sarasota, Fl., USA Several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (February 22, 2007) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, Bathurst. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cathedral Cemetery in the spring.
