ANITA WINNIFRED HATHEWAY of Clifton began her new journey on the snowy evening of December 3, 2007 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, surrounded by family, priest and friends. Her brief battle with cancer had been conquered. Born August 24, 1940 at the Saint John General Hospital, she was the daughter of the late George K. and Nettie (Prince) Robinson. She is survived by John, her husband of 47 years; Two sons: Dale (Liz) of North Bay, ON Timothy (Tracy) of Trenton, ON One brother: George Robinson (Linda) of Kingston, NB Two sisters: Susan Bernard (Roland) of Kingston, NB Audrey Lamb (companion Ralph Fanjoy) of Sussex, NB 6 grandchildren; Mitchell and D.J. Hatheway, Sean and Jordyn Valliquette, Jamie Lynn and Ryan Hatheway, many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a daughter; Tanya Lynn "Tammy" Valiquette, brothers; Malcolm, Ronald and Richard. As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Anita was happiest in her role of chief cook, caregiver and mentor. Her training as a Home Economics teacher was reflected in her love and expertise in quilting, knitting, craft work and cooking. However, her greatest asset was her love and concern for others. She gave of her time, knowledge, talent and resources to her church, to her community and to her friends. Her friendly demeanor and willing smile will be missed by all who knew her. Especially her companions of the Downshore Happy Hatters. The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Friday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (December 8, 2007) at 2:00 p.m. from St. George's Anglican Church, King Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the Christ Church Anglican Cemetery at a later date. Donations to St. George's Anglican Church, Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity would be appreciated by the family. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A special thanks to our family doctor Dr. Edmonde Gionet and Dr. Pascal St. Germain and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their diligent care and thoughtfulness for the family. John and family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all friends, our church family and acquaintances who supported us through this difficult period with their kind thoughts and prayers. God Bless you.
