  • Ryan Pettigrew 1975-2023

  •  Date of Death: February 24, 2023
  •  Location: Bathurst
  •  Funeral Information: March 03, 2023 at 02:00 PM in First United Church, Bathurst

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden, accidental, passing of Ryan

Pettigrew which occurred on Friday, February 24th, 2023 just outside Campbellton at the age of 47.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Frank and Willa (MacKay) Pettigrew.

Besides his parents of Janeville, he is survived by his wife, Cathy (Prickett) Pettigrew, also of Janeville.

Two treasured daughters: MacKenzie and Morgan, both at home.

One sister, Janice Pettigrew (Paul-Henri Roussel) of Janeville.

Paternal grandmother, Ina Pettigrew (late Howard) of Bathurst.

In-laws: Debbie Prickett (Wayne Smearer) of Black Point and Eric Prickett (Paula Savoie) of Jacquet River.  Sister-in-law - Laura Gauvin (Jason) of Blackland.

Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and limitless friends.

Ryan was larger than life. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, and fisherman, but above all else, the best father Mackenzie and Morgan could ask for. His infectious smile, loud laugh, and bubbly personality made Ryan the person we knew and loved each and every day.

From a very early age, Ryan’s only desire was to be a fisherman and live life on the water. He spent many years following, learning, and arguing with his father while on his path to becoming a dedicated, passionate, and successful fisherman. The saying “Dad Said” would be appreciated by all those who knew the inseparable bond Ryan had with his father. Ryan was viewed as a leader and teacher among many fishing communities.

When not fishing, Ryan could be found camping, playing darts, hockey, and softball, four wheeling, snowmobiling and trying to entertain each person he came across. Ryan was always up for a chat or an adventure, and what an adventure he lived.

Ryan’s immediate and extended family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all family, friends, co-workers, and members of the various communities who have reached out to lend a hand, make a generous donation, share their stories, thoughtful messages, and help during this extremely difficult time.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday,

March 3rd, at the First United Church, 309 St. Patrick St., Bathurst. A reception to follow at the First

United Church Donald Eddy Memorial Hall. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be

live streamed on Facebook under Ryan Pettigrew Memorial Group.

We thank you for joining us in celebrating Ryan’s life. We ask that if anyone is so inclined, a registered education savings account has been set up in the children's names. Any donations towards the RESP can be e-transferred to prickett14@hotmail.com or by mail: Cathy Prickett, 5284 Cape Rd, Janeville NB, E2A5J8

Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
