It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Leo Hannan, husband of Nicole (Kerry) and formerly of Ocean Ridge Drive, Bathurst, which occurred at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de- Lourdes on May 31st, with his family at his bedside. He was 91 years old.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late John and Domithilde (Hachey) Hannan. He started his career as a grocery worker at W. J. Kent and worked as a manager for the former Jamieson Save-Easy in West Bathurst until his retirement. Was a well known and respected gentleman. He was one of the founding members of the UCT in the area and was active for more than 66 years.
After his retirement, Leo and his wife Nicole, enjoyed travelling, and summers at their cottage in Lamèque. Was always ready for a joke, a good game of auction 45, or to welcome friends, his children, grand children and great grand children.
He is survived by his wife Nicole (Kerry), married in 1955, their three sons and three daughters; Danny of Bathurst, Suzanne (Daniel Arsenault) Georges (Lynn Losier) Moncton, Rosemary (Kenneth Gauthier) Patricia (François Migliore) David (Nathalie St-Pierre) Montreal, as well as 13 grand children; Jason, Dale, Bryan, Jack, Camille, Elizabeth, Chelsea, Steven, Patrick, Kara, Damien, Edward, Alexandra and 11 great grand kids; Caleb Leo, Miko, Ellie, Holden, Charlie, William, Thomas, Léo, Armand, Riley Nicole and Madeleine.
He also leaves behind his sister Theresa (Ulysse Frenette) of Farmington Maine USA and sister-in-law Blondine (Guitard) Hannan, and other in law members Sr. Gabrielle Kerry, Lucie Kerry and Paul Kerry and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers Gerald, Clifford and Reginal as well as his sisters Mary (Normand Leblanc) Julia (Kenneth Blanchard) and Regina.
The family is grateful for the great care he received at the Southern Comfort Villa and the last few months at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 5th at 2 p.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst.
