Bathurst- It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel Grace (Knowles) Gallant announces her passing on September 14, 2025, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 95 years and 4 months.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Branch and Beatrice (Black) Branch.

Muriel is survived by her daughter Brenda Branch (late James) and son Jack Knowles (Gloria) both of Bathurst; grandchildren: Darryl Branch of Big River, Keri Knowles (Jason) of Ste. Anne, and Collen Knowles (Myles) of Salmon Beach; great grandchildren: Acasha, Sierra, Blake, and Ella.

She is also survived by brothers: Harper (Late Phyllis) of Janeville and Mirns (Kathryn) of Big River; sister: Dawn Branch (Emery) of Ste. Therese; sisters-in-law: Joan Branch of Atikokan, Ont., and Peggy Branch of Youghall. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents Muriel is predeceased by her first husband Glendon Knowles, her second husband Al Gallant; brothers: Carl, Murray, Blair (Late Linda), and sister Connie Leslie (late Fred).

As per moms wishes there will be no visitation or service. In Muriel’s memory, donations may be made to Saint George’s Anglican Church or a memorial of one’s choice.

An extra special Thank you to mom’s homecare workers especially Linda G., Jennifer L., Fernande L., and Connie J. Mom enjoyed every moment spent with each of you, and to Noreen and Daniel and all the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
