Linda Pui Yuk Lee (nee Chong), beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully in Moncton on November 18, 2025, surrounded by family, love and comfort. She leaves behind a legacy of courage, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Born on February 24, 1935, in Hong Kong, Linda endured the challenges of those times, losing her military father early in her life during WWII. With the ardent support of her loving mother and help of her father’s family, Linda became a nurse in the late 1950’s. A chance meeting on the day of Arthur’s departure for a new life in Canada, began a five year courtship by mail. They married, set goals for a bright future, immigrated to Canada in the early 1960’s and settled in Bathurst N.B. in 1965.
Despite the challenges of a new country and unfamiliar beginnings, she approached every obstacle with grace and determination, creating a home filled with stability, openness, and hope. Together with Arthur, and with the invaluable support of her mother, they raised their five children, each of whom carries her kindness toward others, humility, generosity, and belief in the importance of family above all else. Her eight grandchildren were her greatest joy; she watched them grow with pride, offering gentle guidance and encouragement, and endless love.
Throughout her life in Canada, she worked tirelessly alongside Arthur. The two were highly enterprising, and over their years in Bathurst, opened and operated several restaurant and social establishments that many may recall (such as the beloved Seaview Restaurant and popular Bohemian Nightclub). Whether working or socializing, Linda was known for her unwavering compassion and friendliness to others.
She is survived by her children Grace (Jean), Bernard (Joanne), Anita (Doug), Vincent (Jessika) and Sandra, her cherished grandchildren Colin, Alyssa, Aerika, Adam, Lexi, Anna, Aidan, Rowan. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur, mother Ann, mother-in-law Mee Ken, and father-in-law Jim and now reunites with them in peace.
Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and the importance of family that will shape the lives of her children and grandchildren. We are forever grateful for the sacrifices she made, the lessons she taught, and the warmth she gave so freely.
The family would like to express our thanks to the team at Georges L. Dumont hospital. Finally, a very sincere thanks to the residents and staff at the Faubourg du Mascaret for their irreplaceable friendship and support.
A celebration of her life will be held for family at a later date. In memory of Linda, the family asks for donations be made to one of the following charities or organizations in Linda’s memory: Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital Foundation https://dumontfoundation.ca/fcd-1/home ,
Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation https://cpff.ca/donate/ or the Heart & Stroke Foundation https://app-hsfdonation.heartandstroke.ca/
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever in our hearts.
