It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our father, Ernest Roy, at Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes in Bathurst, N.B. on December 6, 2025, at the age of 92.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Irene (Daigle) Roy, son of the late Mr. Henri Roy and Mrs. Winnifred (Légère) Roy.
He is survived by his son, Ronald Roy of Beresford, N.B. and his three daughters: Marlene (Roy) Smith of Bathurst, N.B., Lisa Roy (Jean-Pierre Allen) of Quebec, Quebec and Janet Roy of Campbellton, N.B. He was predeceased by his son Daniel Roy, a brother, Jean-Paul and three sisters: Rosanna, Thérèse, Évangéline.
He was the grandfather of the late Jason (who passed away in 2016), Cory Carmen, Micheal, Julie, Samuel, Justine, Jérémie, Jodie, and Lucas and the great-grandfather of Brandon, Alysha, Jansen, Piper, Zackary, Léticia and Abigaëlle.
He also leaves behind his sisters, Adrienne of Notre-Dame, N.B., Émilienne of Anse Bleu, N.B., as well as his brother, Odilon of Saint-Amateur, along with several nieces and nephews.
Born in Trudel, N.B., he spent the first years of his adult life in Saint John, N.B., before moving to Grande-Anse, N.B., where he worked and raised his family.
Dad had been a member of the Caraquet Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He was also involved in the Paquetville Golden Ring Club.
Dad was known for his love of hunting and his social nature.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, the Vienneau Residence and the Geriatric Department at Bathurst Hospital for their care.
According to his wishes, there will be no funeral. A gathering of family and friends will take place in Paquetville, N.B. in the spring, along with the burial.
