It is with great sadness that the family of Irma Marie McGinn, announces her passing on Saturday December 27, 2025, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst. Irma passed away peacefully at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with dementia, surrounded by her children.

Born in Fredericton, Irma was adopted daughter of the late Alex Despres and Delia (Robichaud) of Minto. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald McGinn and their daughter, Brenda.

Irma is survived by her two children Shawn (Louise) McGinn of Nigadoo and Paula Hope (Derek) of Sussex; her two grandchildren Matthew Dykeman (Christine) and Martina Comeau of Fredericton; her two stepsons Joshua Hope (Justine) and Maverick Hope of Sussex; two great-granddaughters Paisley and Riley Comeau; two step-great-grandchildren Landon and Abbigail Hope; two brothers Leo Despres (Joan) of Oak Bay and Wilfred Despres (Brenda) of Minto and her sister Lola Despres; as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday January 5, 2026, at 2p.m. from St-Polycarpe Church in Petit-Rocher.

For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, donations in memory of Irma may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
