We the family, announcing the passing of Isola “Ezella” Hachey, which occurred at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Bathurst, on December 31, 2025, at the age of 102 years, 7 months, and 3 days.
She passed away peacefully with her niece Deborah, nephew Fidele, and great-nephew Jeffrey by her side. We all called her “Auntie Hazel”
Isola was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Melvina (Bernard) Hachey.
Born in La Tuque, Quebec, but her family home was in Robertsville.
She is survived by one sister: Anita (late Tony) Tanos of Kentville, NS.
She had many nieces, nephews, great and great great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Isola is predeceased by one brother: Fidelin Hachey (late Emma); sisters: Rose (late Arnold) Gray, Iréne Hachey (White), Alma (Late Henry) Arseneault, Noëlla (late Garnett) Kydd, Murielle (late Stanley) Doucet.
Isola left Robertville at a young age. Moved to Montreal for work. She worked different jobs until she was employed with Imperial Oil Company on June 18, 1951, and retired January 1983, after 32 years of work, living in Ville St. Laurent, QC.
With her mother being back in Bathurst at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes for 4 years, Isola moved back to Bathurst in 1994. She was very present for her mother until she passed away in 1998. She then moved to Coffin Cres., where she lived for 22 years until moving into the Vienneau Residence in 2018.
Isola loved to knit, making many blankets for her nieces and nephews.
She never got to marry as she preferred to be a career woman. You could always find her in a sunny spot reading her books, she read right up until 102 years old. Isola was very quiet lady with a big heart and a very proud person. She loved to wear lovely scarfs with a necklace always. She was loved and will be dearly missed.
Thank you to her Vienneau Care Home family for all the love and care you all gave her during her time there.
To the nursing staff of fourth floor west at Chaleur Regional Hospital for all your care during the two times she spent waiting for placement and to the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, her last home, from the heart, thank you, to all the care workers and staff for your care and love you embraced Isola with and the dear friends she made there.
Thank you to all the doctors who also gave care to Isola.
There will be a funeral service at Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, later in the spring.
