Big River - It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the passing of Mrs. Sharon Gillis, wife of David Gillis, of Big River, which occurred Tuesday March 17, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, at the age of 77.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Anita (Roy) MacKenzie.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Carey Gillis McPherson (David) of Golden, BC.

Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren: Evan John and Nora Anita.

Three brothers: Doug MacKenzie (Monique) of Tweed, ON, Randy MacKenzie (Carol) of Fort MacMurray, AB and John MacKenzie (Helga) of Terrace Bay, ON.

One sister, Anne Querry (Serge) of Terrance Bay, ON.

Several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a son, John "Jack".

She was a member of the former I.O.D.E in Bathurst and loved to play Bridge.

There will be no visitations at funeral home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. from the First United Church, Bathurst.  A graveside service will also be celebrated at Spruce Grove Cemetery in the spring.

Donations in memory of Sharon can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a favourite charity.
